Treadmill Information

Purchasing a Nordic Track treadmill or other brand machine for your home should be considered for many different reasons. Those pesky gym fees can add up each month and getting to the gym is such a hassle; a treadmill keeps your workout at home. It should be your first purchase because it gives you cardiovascular exercise such as walking, jogging, or running. The type of treadmill is crucial to shaping your home gym and you must be wary of how much you spend and the quality of the treadmill you purchase.

If you want a basic walking treadmill, you don’t need to spend a lot to get one that will work for you. Simple walking exercises will not wear on a treadmill as much as jogging or running exercises, and so an expensive treadmill will do the job. However, spending a bit more of your money would be the best decision to make if you want to get a treadmill meant to withstand long lengths of time running and jogging without wearing down.

Treadmills are made up of a number of components that can range from high quality and expensive to inexpensive and inferior in the quality department. The motor is a very important part of any treadmill. This part takes most of the wear and if it is not powerful or quality enough it might burn out. A weak motor in a treadmill can cause the entire machine to wear out before its time, so be sure to find the most affordable treadmill with a high-end motor. Persistent duty horsepower and peak horsepower are the two main factors that come into play when evaluating treadmill motors. While many treadmills may quote their peak horsepower ratings to make them look good in the treadmill reviews, it’s the continuous duty horsepower rating that you should take note of. In order to make sure that your equipment has enough strength to endure your workouts over time, purchase a treadmill that possesses more continuous horsepower.

The belt is also an essential feature to inspect. This is the actual piece of rubber that you walk on so you want to make sure that it’s high quality. Although some cheaper treadmills look good on the outside, they are often quite thin, and wear out quickly. You will want to purchase a 2 ply or greater belt, greater if possible, if you want to get the most out of your treadmill. A good quality thick belt means it won’t wear out or need replacing for a much longer time, which is good because the belts are pretty expensive to replace.

It’s not necessary to spend a lot to get a good quality treadmill, but just a few hundred more dollars spent might mean a much higher quality machine. It is always a good idea to plan your budget before purchasing a product, although obviously, the amount of money you have dictates whether or not you buy a high quality machine or one that may not be up to the task, something that might wear down after only a brief period of use.
